Nearly a decade of experience. Professional and high-grade photography.

I'm a Nova Scotia-based photographer with nearly a decade of experience capturing images that are moody, cinematic, and deeply atmospheric. My work focuses on the feeling within every moment — how it unfolds, how it lingers — and has been featured by outlets like CBC and Canon Canada. I create photography that’s not just seen, but felt.

About Me

Hi, I’m Josh Maillet, a professional photographer and photo editor based in Amherst, Nova Scotia. With nearly a decade of experience behind the camera, I focus on creating work that’s moody, cinematic, and emotionally honest. Whether I'm capturing real moments or refining images through careful editing, I aim to create photographs that feel as real and immersive as the memories they represent.

I'm especially drawn to atmosphere - the way light moves, how shadows shift, and the quiet stories happening in between. Over the years, my work has been featured by CBC, Canon Canada, BuzzFeed, Trello, and Medium. I’m always pushing myself to grow as both an artist and a storyteller, with a strong attention to tone, depth, and feeling.

Living and working in the Maritimes has shaped the way I see. The natural beauty of Atlantic Canada, from its foggy coastlines to wide open fields, has become an important part of my visual language. Whether I’m shooting portraits, landscapes, or editorial work, I approach every project with thoughtfulness, creativity, and care.

Kind Words

People are constantly asking us, "who did your photographs?". Josh is as good as it gets and works amazingly on a whim in his creative process.

Kind Words

We feel so lucky to have had Josh as our maternity photographer. His eye for location, attention to detail, and the quality of the photos all speak for themselves. He’s truly one-of-a-kind and incredibly talented.
